Microsoft working on dual-display system for Smartphones

Software giant Microsoft is working on an innovative idea of dual-display for Smartphones. As discovered by PatentBolt, Microsoft is planning to put into action double sided display system for both tablets and Smartphones. Actually, along with main front screen there will also be a low-powered secondary screen at back of the device.

These days all the Smartphones are packed with one touch screen display and one home button or capacitive buttons. So taking this notion further, Microsoft filed a patent which describes about using a low-power secondary display at the back panel of a Smartphone or tablet. This secondary display screen will show generic information which will not be shown by the main screen. This backside screen or display can be used to display photos, logos and even other important notifications such as time or unread messages. The purpose to launch this second display is to show that stuff which does not changes frequently. This secondary display will be using a secondary processor so that the main processor can go into sleep mode with the main screen.

One of the interesting implementations would be the display of a timer at the back screen so that one clicking his own photograph can see the timer. Hopefully the Smartphones coming in future will come with more useful implementation of dual display system.
