The world's No. 1 chipmaker Intel made its debut in the smartphone chip market with the unveiling of Lenovo K800 smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the first phone to run on Intel's Medfield processor.

Sporting a 4.5-inch a TFT display with 720p, the Intel-powered smartphone K800 includes a 1.6GHz Medfield processor and runs on Android 4.0 OS along with Lenovo's LeOS. The phone will use Intel's 32-nanometer mobile chip dubbed Medfield, which is part of Intel's Atom line. I The phone features an 8 megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash and a front-facing camera for video calling. For connectivity, the phone packs the usual 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS connectivity and Wi-Di (Wireless Display).

The phone will also offer support for near-field communication ( NFC) for mobile payments and a HDMI port. The phone will be able to stream video to TV sets equipped with Intel's Wireless Display technology. According to reports, K800 is compatible with WCDMA HSPA+.
