by Kulbir Kaur 10. May 2013 17:30

LG is starting worldwide roll-out of its revolutionary LTE TDD capable Smartphone’s after the demonstration of the Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplexing (LTE TDD) service at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in February. LG Electronics will start the release of LTE TDD capable Smartphone’s in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with its flagship Optimus G Smartphone on the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) network followed by China, India, North America, Japan and Australia. LTE TDD enables receiving and transmitting to occur on the same frequency at different times, just like the broadband, with a narrow band for uploading and a wider one for downloading heavier content such as video and music for more efficient transmission of data. Around 134 million registered LTE TDD lines are expected in markets of China, India, Europe and the United States by the year 2016.

LG beats Samsung by announcing eye movement technology for the LG Optimus G Pro

March 14
by Munish 14. March 2013 15:30

A speculation about the Samsung Galaxy S4 to launch a new feature that would track eye's movement to scroll content on the phone's screen was passed few weeks back. It was expected that Samsung would show this new feature off when the phone was launched. But as per a report by Bloomberg that came on Wednesday just a day before phone's introduction stated that the so called eye scroll feature would not be included with new flagship model. Rather, it will have a new a feature that will start and stop video playback.

Fellow Korean manufacturer LG stole the thunder from Samsung, by announcing this very same feature one day before the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 which was very unfortunate for Samsung. The feature is a part of Value Pack Update for LG Optimus G Pro and is called Smart Video. It will use the front-facing camera to track the user's eyes. The video stops when user's gaze moves away from the screen while it starts again when the user focuses back on the phone's screen.

There is a feature called Dual Camera in the update which uses both the back and front cameras simultaneously to take a single photograph within a photograph. The features will also be part of LG's future handsets rather than being part of the Value Pack update for the LG Optimus Pro, which launched in Korea.

480x800 pixel resolution

1 GHZ processor

512 MB RAM

Android Jelly Bean operating system

5 megapixel rear camera

4 GB internal memory

32 GB expandable storage slot

1700 mAh battery

As per President and chief executive officer of LG Mobile, "We believe that the Optimus L5II will prove to be irresistible to people looking for a feature-rich Smartphone that complements their unique and individual styles."

If it ever makes it to the Indian market, LG may price it around Rs 10,000 approximately. It would be difficult for LG to sell Optimus L5 II in India if it is priced over Rs 10,000 because of already present quad core processor based Smartphone’s like Micromax Canvas HD and Xolo Q800.
