Working with tractor in the scotching sun may irritate farmers to great extant. But what if you could operate tractor with you cell phone from anywhere? A great deal, of course. Two students from Polytechnic College in Moga city of Punjab, with the intent to help the farmers have invented, what comes out to be the first tractor controlled by a cellphone.

In order to make this tractor function efficiently, it is equipped with camera sensor that can identify any obstacle from approximately 10 feet and automatically stops the machine, thus avoiding any complication. The steering, clutch, brakes, everything can be controlled with the buttons of mobile no matter if you do it from you balcony or from US or Canada for that matter. So, no more toil in the withering heat of the sun, as now you can do it from your AC room.

Apple iPhone 4 - Design of the display, A4 processor, and more

July 26
by JJ 26. July 2010 23:50

Well, from the day Apple announced its iPhone 4, the device is capturing the front page of technology news. We can expect this handset in India by fourth quarter of 2010 and would cost you around 40K. Considering such a hefty amount, is it worth buying it? I am not sure if its worth or not, but its a engineering masterpiece. Apple engineers has designed this phone with unique features, that makes it first on any mobile device in the world. Today lets see a few hardware features that are unique to the iPhone 4.

Engineered Glass

All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable.

Retina Display

The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display boasts a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution phone screen ever. To achieve this, Apple engineers developed pixels so small — a mere 78 micrometers across — that the human eye can’t distinguish individual pixels. That makes text remarkably sharp and graphics incredibly vivid.

Stainless Steel Band

Created from our own alloy, then forged to be five times stronger than standard steel, the CNC-machined band is the mounting point for all the components of iPhone 4. The band provides impressive structural rigidity and allows for its incredibly thin, refined design. It also functions as both iPhone 4 antennas.

Apple A4 Processor

Apple engineers designed the A4 chip to be a remarkably powerful yet remarkably power-efficient mobile processor. With it, iPhone 4 can easily perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and placing FaceTime calls. All while maximizing battery life.

Gyro + Accelerometer

iPhone 4 includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, it makes iPhone 4 capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate. Translation: More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience.

Camera + LED

The iPhone 4 camera shoots gorgeous 5-megapixel photos and stunning HD video. And with its advanced backside illumination sensor, it captures beautiful images even in low-light settings. The built-in LED flash does double duty. When you’re taking pictures, it works as a flash. And on the front of iPhone 4, the built-in camera is perfect for making FaceTime calls and shooting self-portraits.

Mic + Speaker

While most phones have only one microphone, iPhone 4 has two. The main mic, located on the bottom next to the dock connector, is for phone calls, voice commands, and memos. The second mic, built into the top near the headphone jack, is for FaceTime calls and for making your phone calls better. It works with the main mic to suppress unwanted and distracting background sounds, such as music and loud conversations.

GizmoMantra - Platform to meet my team and discuss technology, user experience, industry trends and industry issues!!!

July 05
by JJ 5. July 2010 14:07

 Hi All,

It’s been long since I have been waiting to have a platform to share Industry Updates, Thoughts and a Forum to have some interesting discussions. We have been planning this for long and finally Varun and his LearnMax team have made this wonderful platform live. To be true initially when we planned this I thought the team probably won’t be able to keep up with the dynamics of the industry and will have challenges updating it but I am pleasantly surprised by the content collected and shared. The quality of updates shared is fairly good and am sure will improve with time.

Let’s all have an active engagement on this forum and lets share our view points, experiences of how and what the mobile technology is moving towards and what are we hearing from our consumers and what we should be doing. I would request that we all try and keep it to technology, user experience, industry trends and industry issues in broad terms.

Hope we all make good use of this forum with active participation from all and let’s not forget “Technology rarely fails, but the user generally fails to use it” so let’s set the ball rolling.

Wishing the LearnMax team a great success from this project and would really like to thank all who made this platform live.

Hope to see you all soon.

Yours,

JJ.
