How to turn on 3G on Android

Android platform is gaining lot of importance these days as every second person owns Android phone. This platform is not only limited to normal users, but also entering the corporate environment. 

This article will give you deep insight of how to turn on 3G on Android phone.

If you are finding any difficulties in turning on 3G on your Android device then follow the below steps.

  1. Tap the Menu icon.
  2. Then scroll towards right and select settings from the list.
  3. Select Wireless Controls or Wireless & networks (as per OS versions).
  4. Scroll down to select Mobile Networks.
  5. You will get a list on the screen from which you have to select Network Mode.
  6. A dialogue box will get populated in front of you with different options like WCDMA only, GSM only and GSM/WCDMA preferred. You have to select GSM/WCDMA preferred option.
  7. As soon as you will select this option, 3G is enabled on your phone.

Now if you are in 3G-enabled area and your device is 3G compatible, you are good to enjoy high speed internet services on your mobile phone.

Lava's Intel Inside Smartphone coming this week

Lava, Indian brand is going to launch Android-based Smartphone called Xolo X900 in coming week with price range of Rs 13000. This is the first Smartphone which is powered by Intel's Atom chipset (Medfield) in India. It features the Single core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 mobile processor with Intel Hyper-Threading technology giving faster performance with minimal possible compromise on battery life. It will also support the modern 3D graphics and high quality video playback which has Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator. The camera of his Smartphone can capture 10 pictures within a second.

Samsung devices overtake Nokia: The Mobile Indian survey

Samsung products like Galaxy Note and Y series of smartphones have seen a reduction in the market operative price. As the demand for mobile phones increases in India, competition between the two giants, Nokia and Samsung Electronics, for the No.1 spot is gaining momentum. Among all handset companies present in India, Nokia and Samsung enjoy immense popularity in the market. This month's Handset Hotlist survey (April 2012) reflects this, as 17 of the handsets that made it to the list are from Samsung and Nokia.

Golf - HTC's new low cost smartphone breaks cover

Based on Android Ice cream Sandwich and HTC Sense 4.0, the HTC Golf will come with a pocket friendlier price point with 4 GB of onboard storage. Global smartphone and mobile equipment manufacturer, HTC which has been in the news for its high end One series smartphones seems to be focusing on the lower end Android devices as well. The handset manufacturer is now working on a low cost entry level Android Ice Ceram Sandwich operating system based smartphone, which is codenamed as the Golf. The Golf which shares its resemblance with HTC wildfire is expected to run a 1 GHz application processor and as with ICS's requirements for hardware, a dedicated graphic engine is also expected to be featured on the device.

Huawei launches Honor and updated Ideos X5

Huawei Honor comes with three days battery backup on a single charge while updated version of Huawei Ideos X5 offers 16 GB Cloud space to store images, music etc. Huawei has launched its Honor and the new Ideos X5 smartphones in the Indian market. Huawei Honor features a powerful 1,900 mAh battery, which claims to give upto 9 hours of talk time, 6 hours of gaming and 10 hours of video, and a over all three days backup on a single charge. The Huawei Honor currently runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but is upgradeable to Android 4.0 (ICS), and features a 4 inch, scratch resistant Gorilla glass with 245 pixels per inch (PPI) resolution, the highest in its category.

Apart from that it features a 1.4 GHz processor and a gyroscope, and an 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera with high definition video recording. The phone also gets a front facing camera for video chatting and 720P Video recording and playback features. Huawei Honor is priced at Rs 19,990.


Honor is a DLNA-certified device, which ensures interoperability and ability to play content wirelessly on other DLNA-certified devices such as digital cameras, game consoles and TVs. Honor users can Blacklist and Whitelist calls or protect their SMS from unauthorised use. Honor comes with a lock screen that has a built-in quick launch to the Camera, SMS and Phone apps.
Some other additions include a unique new app called Data Traffic Manager which allows user to set their monthly data package budget and offers an overview of data consumption over 2G/3G, WiFi networks, the apps consuming traffic etc.
