HP to launch Windows 8 tablets

World’s leading computer manufacturer Hewlett Packard has decided to make tablets, starting with Windows 8 tablet.
The launch was announced by HP’s Chief Executive Meg Whitman at Global Influencer Summit at Shanghai. As per Todd Bradely, Executive Vice President for printing and personal systems, “The Windows 8 tablets will come with ‘cloud-based technology’ for content sharing across devices.”
The final launch date of Windows 8 device has not been announced yet, but the company is planning to launch it in the same year because of the fierce competition in the market as other brands like Nokia has also showed interest in Windows 8 platform for the tablets.

Android 4.0 Comes To The TouchPad

A few months ago, the $100 (approx Rs 5200) fire sale suddenly made HP's TouchPad a desirable gadget, selling out its entire stock in hours. Now, things are going to get even better for those buyers lucky enough to snag a piece, as team CyanogenMod is set to release a custom ROM that will bring Android 4.0 to the tablet. The TouchPad features a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, which is more than enough to run Ice Cream Sandwich.

CyanogenMod's ROMs are very popular among Android mobile users. Thankfully, these modders have also started paying attention towards tablets. Although there's no word on the firmware's availability, reports suggest that it will be out in the next few days.

TouchPad update offers Siri dictation

While the masses will most probably need to sit it out until the next major version of Mac OS X delivers Siri to the Mac platform, someone out there managed to enable its dictation capabilities to function with the Mac and PC immediately, thanks to Edovia’s TouchPad app that will run on iOS devices. The TouchPad is actually a $4.99 app that will work with your iPad and iPhone, transforming just about any iOS device into a bunch of remote input devices for your computer. Not only will you be on the receiving end of a virtual keyboard that will let you type on your Mac, there is also a trackpad that lets you control the cursor and a remote so that you can control media playback.

TouchPad 4.0 will come with always visible modifier keys, making it a whole lot more convenient to access keyboard shortcuts if you want to. Apart from that, it will also feature added support for even more media players as well as a handful of other new shortcuts. Additional changes include improved support for international keyboards, a superior help documentation as well as a more refined screen zooming gesture.
