Apple awarded new patent that lets you decide whether to call or text

Apple is finally out with solutions for small problems, which make our mobile experience better. Many times we tend to face the dilemma of whether to call or text a person so Apple will help you decide it. The latest patent obtained by Apple aims at deciding the best way to contact by considering the variables like time, location, mobility, or other factors. When user set triggers for work, or when he is at the gym, or any other factor, and chooses whether it is best to contact user with a call, text, e-mail, or maybe through another messaging service then user will be contacted in the selected mode at that time. The system is also automated for random events like if user is at a concert, the system will figure that out based on his GPS, clock, and microphone data.

BlackBerry 10 swipe-based predictive text comes to iPhone

BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) presented the preview of its latest innovation: BlackBerry 10 software. Company’s shareholders were not that much impressed with RIM’s efforts and the stock also took a hit. One of the features in BlackBerry 10 is predictive text implementation, which help users with placing a word predictions on the keys as he or she types on a Smartphone’s virtual keyboard. User can input the word by just swiping upward on a key containing a word prediction. In order to enjoy this BlackBerry feature users have to wait until fourth quarter, while iPhone users can enjoy it now. iDownloadBlog uncovered a new system called Octopus keyboard in Cydia, the unauthorized third-party app store for jailbroken iOS devices.

Evernote apps gaining popularity

Evernote, a significant player in the utility app space, is fast gain popularity among app users across mobile and web platforms. The company which had begun 2011 with one app, Evernote, and now has three apps in its kitty - Evernote, Food and Hello. Evernote's latest app offering food adds the favourite food of the users with pictures and tags, whereas the second app Hello is a great way to keep in touch with people users have recently met.

The company which had begun 2011 with one app, Evernote, now has about 20 million users. Talking to Gigaom, Phil Libin, chief executive officer of Evernote, said, "On one hand, I'm really proud of that, and I'm really proud of our team. But on the other hand, 20 million users is a tiny fraction of what our overall goal is. There are still about 7 billion people out there on the planet who aren't using Evernote. We want to improve everyone's life, and we won't be satisfied until we've gotten there."

Evernote says it is building its product for the long term, and that's how it prices its products or builds its business. Notably, Evernote is a Freemium app.

For the multi taskers of today, getting disorganised is easy because they are doing so many things and that's where Evernote comes in since it helps users keep everything in sync. The app gets information from so many sources and then makes it available from one location. The app lets users to store web page clips, archive them, and store screen shots, text notes and photos as well.
