Nexus 4's LTE chip useless: LG

November 26
by kashyap 26. November 2012 16:30

While acknowledging media reports that there is a LTE chip inside the Nexus 4, LG has now made it clear that the chip is not functional. The South Korean handset giant explained, "In order to provide the best possible specification for Nexus 4, LG utilised the same powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset as can be found in its 4G LTE product, namely LG Optimus G. This powerful chipset is only available with a combined processor and modem and cannot be implemented separately".
As per the Canada users report , "Many Nexus 4 users have been able to get the LTE chip in the device up and running on the available Canadian LTE networks. So the bottom-line here is that the Nexus 4 has got the LTE chip as a part of the hardware and it is fully functional".
Device Specification of Nexus 4:
• Quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 Krait mobile processor
• New Adreno 320 graphics chip
• 2 GB RAM
• 3D graphics
• Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update
• 8 megapixel camera

It is expected that LG will introduce the Nexus 4 in India next month itself following which users will also get a chance to lay their hands on the new device and probably figure out a few tricks of their own to get the LTE chip up and running.
