It will be optimized for better touch screen performance along with the inclusion of the 'Metro' style user interface that is similar to the one that is being used on Windows Phone presently. It has been reported that Samsung tablets will be released when Windows 8 itself is unveiled in October. They will enhance Microsoft's continuing bid to get into a tablet market that is dominated by Apple's iPad. Samsung join the bandwagon of Windows 8 based device manufacturers of which HP has already announced to be a part of but HP will only be focusing on Windows 8, Intel processor, based devices in order to maintain its core business.
Microsoft has offered Windows RT access only to limited number of PC makers in order to maintain the quality of devices that will be available in the market. Nvidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments were allowed to design the chips for devices such as tablets, notebooks or hybrid devices like the Asus transformer. Large chunk of the tablets available today are based on the ARM architecture based processor including Apple iPad.

Android 4.0 Comes To The TouchPad

A few months ago, the $100 (approx Rs 5200) fire sale suddenly made HP's TouchPad a desirable gadget, selling out its entire stock in hours. Now, things are going to get even better for those buyers lucky enough to snag a piece, as team CyanogenMod is set to release a custom ROM that will bring Android 4.0 to the tablet. The TouchPad features a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, which is more than enough to run Ice Cream Sandwich.

CyanogenMod's ROMs are very popular among Android mobile users. Thankfully, these modders have also started paying attention towards tablets. Although there's no word on the firmware's availability, reports suggest that it will be out in the next few days.

HP insiders claim , HP WebOS devices were doomed before launch

HP insiders claim , HP WebOS devices were doomed before launch

The operating system that hogged maximum limelight, WebOS is now due for another controversy. Ex-Palm employees and current HP folks feel that HP`s Palm and WebOS acquisition was a failure bound to happen.

When Palm initially made the operating system, they had a clear picture in mind, the operating system to be based on common Web technology, WebKit. The idea was to make it easy to create software for the device, which Palm hoped would attract programmers to make WebOS apps. But that was not the end result.

Unnamed HP employees have also passed such statements saying : “there were neither the right leaders nor the right engineers to do the job.”

Developers believe that WebOS is an interesting Operating system and one of the best out there. It`s a good thing HP finally decided to OpenSource the bad-boy OS.
