Hackers find hole in NFC, Chrome browser for Android

July 31
by jasmeet 31. July 2012 16:14

Google has been trying hard to make android mobile operating more secure than ever with new updates. The hackers continue to stay one step ahead and now claim to have found a new loop hole. Several security researchers in the Black Hat hacker conference that took place at Las Vegas showcased the proof of concept methods to exploit loopholes in different software.  Black Hat hackers manage to inject malicious code in the Google Android mobile operating system by exploiting the bug in Near Field Communication module and Chrome browser.
This is a very serious bug considering that several financial, banking and other business institutions are looking forward to use the NFC for mobile payments. If the technology has some ambiguity then there may be slow down in the implementation process.
Miller along with another security researcher also demonstrated a loop hole in the Chrome which could be exploited to take control of the device. Theses researchers confirmed that fix has already been issued by Google for the Chrome mobile web browser for the Android devices. With the latest version of the app for Android the Chrome browser bug has been fixed and can be downloaded from the Google Play store.
Google has been very active in filling up the gaps and not leaving any security slip-ups with its Android mobile operating system. New "Bouncer" Technology has also been employed for reviewing and testing the apps submitted for approval and to be published through the Google Play Store. Like other operating systems, Android OS is also not faultless but it can be made by patching the loopholes as quickly as possible.

Google Chrome for iPhone, iPad now available

Google has released the Chrome web browser available for the iOS based devices through Apple App Store. Google Chrome joins the race of the third party web browser in the Apple App Store while bringing new user experience. At Google I/O conference in San Francisco, US the availability of the Google Chrome web browser for iPhone and iPad was announced. This browser is available for the iOS 4.3 or higher running devices which are not same like the one available for the Android platform. Apple's older engine UIWebView for rendering and as JavaScript engine is used in the chrome for iOS. It will be even slower than the Apple's own mobile Safari which uses a Nitro JavaScript engine for rendering. The reason why Apple use UIWebView engine is because that is what Apple offers the third party web browser to use - be it Opera, Dolphin or Yahoo Axis. The set of fancy features such as ability to view open tabs and pages from other devices is included in Chrome for iOS. That requires signing into Chrome using your Google Account credentials. The famous Cognito Mode is also available for the Chrome for iOS. The main objective of the Google is to deliver a fast, secure and stable version of web browsing experience to the iOS platform users. It is not as fast as you think but you can certainly enjoy the similar user interface on the iPhone or iPad.

Good news for the lovers of chrome browser because this new Chrome for iOS will help the ardent lovers of Chrome browser for the desktops to sync their bookmarks, pages and calendar with the iOS devices and access it on the go. Recently, Mozilla showed the sample of its upcoming Firefox web browser for the iPad recently and codenamed it as Junior. Till now no official dates has been revealed. You can download Google Chrome for iOS from the Apple App store.

Google building Metro Chrome for Windows 8

Google's support for Windows Phone is in shambles. But it has been reported that Google is working on a Chrome browser for Windows 8 that should work on some tablets. Today Google announced the next dev channel release of its Chrome browser which will have integration with Windows 8, including snap view and charms. There are new universal buttons at the Charms that slide out from the right side of the screen which includes Search, Share, Devices, Settings, and Start. With the Windows 8 integration the Chrome browser will look pretty nice. This version of Chrome is being constructed especially for desktops and laptops. It will not be available on Windows RT (ARM devices). Microsoft doesn't want competition on ARM devices so there will be some tablets that won't be able to run the app. There are Windows 8 devices which include Asus Transformer Book, or Asus Tablet 810 that will be compatible with Chrome.
