Stand-off between Indian Govt. and RIM heading towards a resolution

According to the latest reports there is interesting development in the rift between the Indian Govt. and Research In Motion (RIM) where the government has asked the Canadian giant to give them keys to the access the coded data that flows through its servers.
Solutions have been provided to the govt by the RIM to conduct lawful surveillance of emails held by individuals and BlackBerry Messenger. India has been asking the company to give the access to the BlackBerry Enterprise Services which handles all the corporate emails. On this RIM has stated it can't decode the corporate emails. But now it looks like that there is some solution to this problem.
As stated by Mr. Chandrashekhar who is a top bureaucrat in India's telecommunication ministry that “law enforcement agencies will get what they need." He further added "The issue is heading towards a resolution and I think necessary action is being taken in consultation and with the cooperation with all the agencies concerned."
RIM stated that “They have no ability to provide its customers' encryption keys. RIM maintains a consistent global standard for lawful access requirements that does not include special deals for specific countries."

Google disables Jelly Bean app encryption after issues with several paid apps

Google disables Jelly Bean app encryption after issues with several paid apps

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean’s key feature is that it automatically code paid applications with a device specific ID, which secures an app downloaded on ones device can only be used on that particular device. This was created to fight with the uncontrolled piracy that has been seen on the Android platform.
Several developers and users of paid apps have stated that no doubt the idea is excellent but the execution is not. There is a problem with the coded applications which are downloaded and installed. Google Play Store installs the application in the /mnt/asec folder at the place of the /data/apps folder. A service cache is generated for all the installed apps when OS boots. This process happens before the /mnt/asec folder is mounted, because of which the OS cannot find the settings and other user profile data for the app. This causes paid apps to reset and their data to be cleared every time the phone is rebooted.
At present it appears that there is not any real solution to this problem, which has resulted n the encryption feature being disabled by Google. Still this is something only found in Jelly Bean, those running older versions of Android was never affected by it.
As reported by the Android Police that from the last month  Google was aware of this issue and instead of  focusing  it on priority basis it was relegated to a medium priority status, something to be fixed in the next version of Android. We wish the system will be fixed and back online.

TripAdvisor Augmented Reality app now on BlackBerry

For BlackBerry Smartphone’s, Wikitude has declared a new TripAdvisor in Augmented Reality (AR) app. If users are using Wikitude app than they can download the new TripAdvisor in Augmented Reality app. With the help of this app users can easily search for hotels, restaurants and other attractions around. Users need not to feed any data and simply can see what is around using the app and the phone's camera.
The Wikitude and the TripAdvisor Augmented Reality Apps need to be linked together and on both the Browser Filtering permissions need to be enabled. The Augmented Reality technology includes a layer of computer generated information as graphics on top of the real-world environment.  The phone's camera is used to view real-world information on the screen and the computer generated information is displayed on the screen with the Wikitude app.
From the TripAdvisor database the Wikitude App pulls data about locations and places and then displays it on the phone's screen.
This app gives a quick window to display the prominent locations around whenever the user is looking for a restaurant, coffee shop or ATM. By using this app user can get quick and easy access to the information surrounding his/her current location.  The app also integrates with BlackBerry Messenger and allows instant interaction with listed contacts. This app is exclusively available for the BlackBerry platform.
