Fine of Rs. 10,000 on operators for unlawful rejections of MNP requests proposed

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) helps users to change their operators without changing the mobile number. Since the inception of MNP, TRAI has been receiving many complaints where operators have been found to be rejecting subscribers’ requests. Now TRAI has announced that   operators have to pay heavy penalty if they are found to be unlawfully rejecting these requests. As stated by  TRAI , “The Authority has decided to amend the regulations to incorporate provisions for levying financial disincentives where the contravention is established in rejection of porting requests and also in the timelines specified in regulations."
Penalty of Rs 10,000 will be levied where a contravention of rules is established in rejection of porting request by telecom operators from whose network subscribers want to shift to the network of another operator. Penalty of Rs 5,000 will be implemented in cases where the regulator finds a contravention of regulation in the timelines for acting on the various steps involved in processing of MNP. Public comments will be acceptable by TRAI till August 13 over this amendment in the MNP regulation.

No more

Microsoft, Global software giant has been using the term 'Metro' for the new user interface that made its debut with the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Microsoft no longer wants to use the term "Metro User Interface" for its upcoming Windows products. Microsoft is set to rename the 'Metro User Interface' as the 'New User Interface' or the 'Windows 8 style User Interface'.
As stated by ARS Technica, Microsoft's legal and corporate affairs team has issued an internal memo banning the use of the word "Metro" with regards to Windows. As per the report, Microsoft has in the memo clarified that the decision was taken after German retailer, Metro AG, sent a notice to Microsoft threatening legal action for infringing the "Metro" trademark held by it.
Microsoft will be using new terminology with its upcoming operating system “Windows 8-style UI" when talking about Windows 8 applications, and "New User Interface" when talking about the company's product line-up. As stated by Microsoft, "We have used 'Metro style' as a code name during the product development cycle across many of our product lines. As we get closer to launch and transition from industry dialog to a broad consumer dialog we will use our commercial names."
In the month of October this year Windows 8 will be launched with Metro user interface.
