In 2008 Google introduced video chat from Gmail and now they are adding Hangout feature of Google+ in the Gmail.
Previously video chat was based on peer-to-peer (single person to single person) technology. Now with this new feature you can reach people on your Google+ list. You can also chat with those who are using their Google account through Android or iOS based Smartphone or Tablet from your Gmail account itself. Official video of this feature can be watched to understand what this really means.
You can start video chat with up to nine people at once, watch YouTube videos together, collaborate on Google documents and share your screen (take screenshot and send) with those who are on Android and iOS devices from Gmail inbox. This upgrade will be beneficial for the all Gmail users but if you and the person you're chatting with also use Google+, you'll get even more from the Hangouts experience. Bunch of fun effects are available in the hangoutthat you can try out, like pirate hat or mustache. Gtalk Android application already have this  feature , but the recent step brings this functionality to a wider number of devices so that one needs not be bothered about which device his/her friend is on.

India Post offers instant money remittance through mobile

July 31
by Munish 31. July 2012 17:14

Shortly people will be able to transfer money within the country in a matter of minutes via India Post. The service will utilize a mobile to send a message to the post office where money is to be received, which will in turn handover the money to the beneficiary immediately.
As stated by chief postmaster general of Kerala circle “The postal department will unveil this instant mobile money remittance scheme with the help of BSNL Infrastructure by next month”
After releasing a special postal cover in connection with the ruby jubilee celebrations of Kottayam Press Club Koshy stated that in the initial phase, the scheme will be applied in selected states like Kerala, Bihar, New Delhi and Punjab. In Kerala, the scheme will be implemented in 30 post offices in Idukki, Aluva and Pathanamthitta. She further added that as per the scheme a person can send money through a post office which will send a message to the other post office about the amount to be given to the recipient at the other end. This service will not only increase post office revenue, but will also prevent a lot of hardship that migrant labor from these states face while sending money. Currently, most of them rely on people from their locality going back home, or sending money to people who have a bank account in the locality, who then give the money to the concerned person.
Currently India Post offers money transfer through a tie up with Western Union, but with this mobile remittance service India Post will keep things in-house and will offer services to a wider audience. This system will also be easier to implement in post offices across the country.
Koshy stated that the process of computerizing the entire postal network in the country, numbering 1, 55,000 post offices, was going on. The department is planning to implement a range of products which comprises of e-post instead of letters, where a print out of an email message can be delivered to a person who doesn't own an internet connected PC or mobile; and electronic money order scheme by which up to Rs 5,000 can be sent with a small message. There have been great rumours about this service but its effectiveness can only be judged in the coming times.

Hackers find hole in NFC, Chrome browser for Android

July 31
by jasmeet 31. July 2012 16:14

Google has been trying hard to make android mobile operating more secure than ever with new updates. The hackers continue to stay one step ahead and now claim to have found a new loop hole. Several security researchers in the Black Hat hacker conference that took place at Las Vegas showcased the proof of concept methods to exploit loopholes in different software.  Black Hat hackers manage to inject malicious code in the Google Android mobile operating system by exploiting the bug in Near Field Communication module and Chrome browser.
This is a very serious bug considering that several financial, banking and other business institutions are looking forward to use the NFC for mobile payments. If the technology has some ambiguity then there may be slow down in the implementation process.
Miller along with another security researcher also demonstrated a loop hole in the Chrome which could be exploited to take control of the device. Theses researchers confirmed that fix has already been issued by Google for the Chrome mobile web browser for the Android devices. With the latest version of the app for Android the Chrome browser bug has been fixed and can be downloaded from the Google Play store.
Google has been very active in filling up the gaps and not leaving any security slip-ups with its Android mobile operating system. New "Bouncer" Technology has also been employed for reviewing and testing the apps submitted for approval and to be published through the Google Play Store. Like other operating systems, Android OS is also not faultless but it can be made by patching the loopholes as quickly as possible.

Microsoft announces Windows 8 accessories, meet the Wedge Mobile Keyboard and Wedge Touch Mouse

July 31
by kashyap 31. July 2012 14:14

Microsoft has announced the new Wedge Mobile Keyboard and Wedge Touch Mouse. The Wedge Mobile Keyboard isn’t some simple Bluetooth keyboard. It comes with a special cover which hides some nifty tricks under its sleeve. The cover acts as an on/off switch for the keyboard itself. So when it is removed, the keyboard automatically turns on, which as a result saves on battery life. Once it’s off the keyboard, the cover can fold in half to create a stand for your Windows 8 running tablet. The back of the keyboard has a handy grip which allows you to place it against a tablet and carry it around. Due to the cover’s soft rubbery surface scratches are unlikely.

In the coming weeks the Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard will retail for $79.95 and will be globally available. It’s certainly a great way of getting the most out of a Windows 8 tablet and being able to use it for work as well as entertainment. The next is the Wedge Touch Mouse which is the smallest mouse they’ve ever made. It is unique due to its triangular design. It uses Microsoft’s proprietary BlueTrack technology, allowing you to use it on any surface. As its name shows, it’s a fully touch operated mouse and supports touch scrolling and navigation in all four directions. To keep you away from the battery tray, Microsoft have made the mouse turn off when the device its connected to goes to sleep. The Microsoft Wedge Touch will be soon available in the market and will sale for $69.95.
