Super AMOLED

Super AMOLED display comes with an integrated digitizer in which the layer that detects touch is built-in the screen, rather than being overlaid on top of it. There is touch sensor which is just 0.001mm thick has been placed over the display. This display provides better images and has great visibility even in direct sunlight. Pentile matrix sub-pixel design is used in the Super-AMOLED display. Super AMOLED reflects 5 times less sunlight compared to the first generation AMOLED.

Super AMOLED Advanced

Super AMOLED Advanced offers the 25% more power efficient. This display is even more energy efficient and brighter. It uses the classic RGB Stripe matrix technology. The displays look better but they provide less pixel density compared to Super AMOLED displays. It has higher resolution – qHD or 960 x 540 for Super AMOLED Advanced as compared to WVGA or 800 x 480 for Super AMOLED. This display is used in Motorola Droid RAZR

Super AMOLED Plus

More advanced technology of the Samsung is Super AMOLED Plus. This display was first introduced in Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Droid Charge Smartphone’s. In this traditional RGB RGB (3 subpixels) arrangement has been used that is typically used in LCD displays. This variant of AMOLED is brighter and more energy efficient. Due to increased number of sub pixels sharper and less grainy images are produced.


HD Super AMOLED

HD Super AMOLED was first used in Samsung Galaxy Note. This is the new display from Samsung featuring HD (1280 x 720 or more) resolution. RGBG-matrix (PenTile) with fewer subpixels technology has been used which gives higher resolution.

HD Super AMOLED Plus

Samsung has a non-Pentile version of display known as HD Super AMOLED display. They have used full RGB matrix technology. The display used is more energy efficient and brighter. It is very thin and produces sharper images.
