Nokia might resort to Android, if Windows 8 fails?

Last year, Nokia, Global mobile phone manufacturer had announced its partnership with Microsoft following which the Lumia series of Windows Phone devices were launched but it failed to revive the fortunes of the handset giant. This is the major concern for Nokia and is reading a backup or contingency plan in case the present arrangement with Windows doesn't work out. Nokia's board chairperson stated that every good government and good leadership is preparing for every contingency plans unexpected situations and problems arising. It has not been clearly indicated that what Nokia will do in a situation when partnership with Windows doesn't yield the desired result. But by looking at the situation as well as the global trends in operation system adoption by other handset majors it seems Android will be the only valid choice. Nokia has already declared the end of road for its widely recognized OS Symbian so it is out of reckoning. Even it doesn't seem like they will go back to it for strengthening its position in Smartphone segment. Globally users would be really eager to see Symbian back on track but a partnership of Nokia with Google Android would only make them happier.
When Nokia- Microsoft tied up in year 2011 Nokia expected that things will work out both the companies but the results turned out to be rather disappointing. Nokia has to suffer a lot with this tie up who decided to do away with its homegrown operating system for the Windows Phone OS.

New Curved soft keyboard might arrive with Windows Phone 8

Microsoft is working on a new soft keyboard for Windows Phone devices after the launch of the Windows Phone 8 OS. The picture depicts how the new arced soft keyboard could look on arrival. This picture has been obtained by WMPU from a supposed Microsoft Research presentation. This type of keyboard allows the users to type in their Windows Phone by just using their thumb, conveniently. The keyboard has keys which are grouped together in the QWERTY keyboard ordering.  It also helps the users decide which word is being typed. Look of the keyboard looks little weird but this is the good option for the users who crave for a keyboard on which they could type one-handed. The keyboard in the picture is exhibited on the HTC Trophy which could mean that we may also see this feature arrive on the older Windows Phone 7.5 Smartphones as a Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade.

India saw the launch of 27 phones and tablets in June

27 devices were unveiled by the handset and tablet manufactures for Indian consumers. Out of which 21 were Smartphone’s, four were tablets and two were feature phones. The price range of all these Smartphone’s were from Rs 5,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh. All 21 Smartphone’s were launched last month both from MNC brands and Indian brands. The major trend we observed was that new Smartphone’s outnumbered feature phones. The main reason behind this might be MNC brands like Sony, Motorola and HTC have already stated that they will exit the feature phone business and concentrate only on Smartphone’s. But the unexpected part is that even homegrown brands are no longer focusing on the feature phone segment. Eight feature phones were announced in the month of May but this number decreased to just two in June. Even the price of basic Smartphone’s is almost same as features phones and moreover the first time buyers' market is fast dwindling. Customers are also looking for the upgrades which results into shrinkage of feature phone market.

Facebook will ‘look into’ its own sneaky email switching

Last week Facebook splendidly ticked off many of its users when it made their @facebook.com email addresses the primary ones displayed on profile pages without even asking permission. But now, Facebook is claiming that they never tried to switch its users' default email settings. They are pledging to inspect just how this happened. It has been stated by Facebook spokesman that the company is “having the engineers look into it and will get back to you as soon as we can with more details.
This past weekend Adobe employee Rachel Luxemburg reported on her personal blog that Facebook had pushed its own email account onto others' contacts lists, meaning her friends, family and coworkers saw her @facebook.com address as her primary one on most devices. After that Facebook stated about its email syncing policies.
