iPhone might get SLR like changeable lenses

Nokia changed the mobile camera forever with its 41 megapixel bearing Nokia 808 PureView, and now it seems that Apple is going to follow this path. Patent has been filed by the Apple that will give iPhone camera a lot of similarity with DSRL cameras in the sense that users will be able to change lens according their requirements. If Apple is able to get success with this changeable lens technology to the iPhone, it will definitely keep its numero uno status in the mobile camera space. As we have seen that already huge sensors are built into the phone and this change in lens would make atleast point and shoot cameras worthless. This exciting move may create an entirely new industry of mobile lens similar. The patent filed by the Apple is for the "back panel for a portable electronic device with different camera lens options" and has a diagram reminiscent of an opened iPhone with labeled parts. The patent application also states that it would be desirable to offer a structure for a compact device that allows the end user to reconfigure the optical arrangement of the device while retaining the benefits of assembling the device using a pre-assembled digital imaging subsystem.

FCC to review cell phone radiation guidelines

Chairman of the United States Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski, announced on Friday that he is planning to ask his fellow commissioners to open a formal inquiry that will evaluate whether or not its standards protect humans from dangerous cellphone radiation. It is the first time in 15 years that the question has been asked by the FCC, in spite of the increased demand for mobile phones.
The agency is quite confident about their guidelines set “pose no risk to consumers”. It has been reported by the Tammy Sun that their action today is a routine review of our standards. They are confident about the emissions guidelines set for the devices “pose no risks to consumers”. The FCC last updated its guidelines setting maximum radiation-exposure levels in 1996, at which time about 44 million people in the U.S. owned mobile phones. That number has increased to more than 332 million mobile phone owners as of 2011.
