HTC will not make low-end phones: CEO

Everyone is aware that HTC’s sales figures last year were not decent enough that’s the reason behind company’s decision to launch limited devices this year but with best of quality to make the most out of the products. The company unveiled HTC One series this year which included HTC X, HTC S and HTC V and the devices are doing quite well. If a company introduces low-end handsets it will help HTC in reaching a larger audience and boosts sales. It has been stated by HTC CEO that the company will not produce low-end handsets as he wants the company’s image to be intact and doesn’t want to destroy it. They will use better material to make better products that offer premium experience. This specifies that will concentrate in making and selling medium to high price phones and try to expand its presence in emerging markets like China and India which are still untapped. Now HTC is facing stiff competition from current leaders like Apple and Samsung. They have eaten HTC’s share by a huge amount in the US and China. Due to this company has to revamp its strategy and still not enter into making low-end phones.

PlayBook can run iOS apps

BlackBerry PlayBook OS developer managed to run few iOS apps on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. After rewriting piece of code on the apps CrackBerry Forum user businesscat2000 managed to run some select iOS apps on the PlayBook tablet. This is good news for the cross-platform app developers. It has been stated by the vice president of developer relations at RIM that Piracy was a huge problem for Android developers and RIM doesn't want to duplicate the muddled cesspool of Android market. In the meantime, an enthusiast developer managed to side-load and run select iOS apps on the BlackBerry PlayBook. The videos posted by the developers showed that iOS apps ran smoothly on PlayBook. Due to some legal reasons this project may not be open to public. But this does not refuse the concept that iOS apps too can be used on the BlackBerry PlayBook platform. For this RIM can officially partner with Apple on development levels to allow iOS apps to run on PlayBook. Till now no information has been revealed that whether the solution to run iOS apps on PlayBook would be made available publicly.
