Samsung has unveiled a new programmable near field communication tags called TecTiles for its Galaxy devices. The new Samsung TecTiles NFC Tags can be programmed with the TecTile programming app to execute specific function with compatible NFC enabled Smartphone’s. These NFC tags have the ability to program and automate some of pretty trivial and mundane tasks. For example, set this at your bedroom door and program it to initiate an alarm for morning when you walk in with your NFC enabled Samsung phone. You can also use it to send text message if you reach home or reach office. Presently TecTiles Tags are compatible with Samsung's Android based Smartphone’s like Nexus S 4G, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S Blaze 4G, Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III. Samsung is following the same footsteps of its rival companies - LG and Sony Ericsson by introducing programmable Near Field Communication tags. Earlier LG has introduced LG Tag+ and Sony Mobile announced its SmartTags. Setting specific tasks to the TecTiles tags are allowed by Samsung TecTile program which are broadly classified into four basic categories - Social, Communication, Settings and Application, and Location and web. Samsung TecTiles NFC Tags will be available in set of five for $15.

Apple has unveiled new TomTom powered maps application. Now Microsoft is likely to follow the same footsteps. According to the latest reports, in upcoming Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system Microsoft will replace Bing Maps with Nokia Maps. Pleasing user interface is provided by the Microsoft's Windows Phone but they lag behind in offering some core applications. Microsoft aims to offer top class mapping and navigation in the upcoming Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system. It has been stated that Nokia's mapping service roped to power the maps in the Windows Phone 8 devices. Presently Microsoft is working hard to integrate Nokia's mapping service and replace the Bing Maps. New set of features are introduced which includes offline navigation and transit modes. Nokia intend to bring 3D navigation for its mapping service. No official announcement has been made by Microsoft or Nokia regarding the mapping plans but it is bound to replace Bing Maps.

Sony has launched its new Xperia smartphone - the Xperia Miro. On the Facebook page the company has announced about the release of this phone. It is available in four different color combinations that include black, black/pink, white and white/gold.

According to the latest reports Sony has deeper integration of Facebook. Nothing much has been revealed about its processor or other specification. Even no announcement has been made about its price and availability.

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC's flagship Smartphone, the One X is currently going through a rough patch. Some of the owners have reported about a bizarre WiFi Death Grip issue. If you press the back of the phone a bit while holding it WiFi signal of the phone drops significantly. Owners of HTC One X are facing lot of problems related to WiFi feature. Earlier the phone encountered some minor issues including fast battery draining problem.
The problem with the WiFi hardware module inside the HTC One X Smartphone was highlighted by XDA-Developers. Even the developers and Smartphone enthusiasts are pointing at poorly installed WiFi module in the One X. The company is also investigating about the issue. The Smartphone consumes more battery to stay connected due to weaker or constantly dropping signal. Till now company has not accepted this issue but investigation is being carried on. Hopefully within a week or two we shall receive official word from the company. The 1.26.707.11 software update has been added to HTC One X that brings several bug fixes under the hood. Connect your phone over WiFi and tap on 'Update Phone' section in the settings to get the latest update.
