LG's new 5 inch display challenges Apple's Retina Display with 1080p and 440ppi

LG is not in any mood to compromise when it comes to its mobile Smartphone’s. First the company unveiled the LG Optimus Vu which is a 5 inch giant competing directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Note. Now they are going to target Apple.  LG is now going to launch the Cupertino giant with 5 inch Full HD LCD panel and screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 resulting in 440ppi (Pixel-per-inch). This 440ppi (Pixel-per-inch) is 72 percent more than that of the Optimus Vu. It features 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio which has 0.5 inches larger panel, 2.2 times denser in pixels, and 1.3 times more advanced in ppi than the preceding 4.5" panel at 329ppi and 1280x720. The panel used is a variant of IPS known as Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) which includes wide viewing angles, fast response times and improves brightness efficiency. The 5 inch full HD LCD panel is expected to be roll out in the second half of 2012.

Bump for Android now transfers photos directly to your PC

Wireless Data sharing software app, Bump is available for iOS and Android platforms. One more feature of the Bump has been declared that allows direct photo transfer to PCs. Now you don’t need to physically connect your Android Smartphone or tablet to your PC. Earlier version of Bump Android app permitted users to transfer contacts, photos etc among devices which had Bump installed on them. Now they have moved one step ahead by allowing transfer of images from the Android based devices to a desktop web browser directly. You just have to open http://bu.mp website on your PC. After that you have to open Bump on Android app, choose the photos you wish to transfer and then gently bump your phone on the keyboard's spacebar of PC. Presently it works on Safari, Chrome and Firefox web browsers. You can download Bump for Android app from the Google Play Store.

Siri like app now available for Android ICS devices

Makers of S Voice, the voice based assistant app for Samsung's new Galaxy SIII, has now roll out similar application for all the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system based devices. It has similar features for all ICS based devices.  Vlingo, the company behind the making of S voice, has now unveiled an identical application for all other Android ICS based devices. Currently this application is in beta stage which promises to bring Siri like functionality to the Android devices. In Vlingo beta, Android users just need to provide commands for performing complex tasks. It automatically links itself to all the small and big functions on the Android device. This Vlingo understands the various accents for the best performance. It promises to be the most accurate and useful application as compared to other such voice based assistant applications for Android. This application can only be installed on devices which has OS version 4.0 and above. Users in the USA and Canada can get this application from Google Play store free of cost. It will soon be made available for users in other parts of the world including India.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a latest Android app which is Google’s own cloud-based storage service. The app is available on Google Play Store and offers 5GB service which can be expanded to 25GB apart from also supporting  Mac and PC. It renders a lot of flexibility by enabling you to opt for the folders you want to sync via the Preferences dialog box thereby allowing you to view and access all the files (up to 30 types) you have up in the cloud. OCR text scanning is it’s new feature which enables scanning the image for text and making it searchable (simplifying image searching process) even if you haven’t tagged them correctly.

Vodafone changes 3G plans

To stay ahead in this competition Vodafone has now tweaked its 3G tariffs. It has been reported that Airtel and Idea have reduced their 3G tariffs by 70 per cent while RCom has reduced its 3G tariffs by 90 per cent. Vodafone is now offering 'pay as you go' tariff at 2 paisa per 10 KB just like idea. But Vodafone’s rate is cheaper as compared to Airtel's rate 3 paisa per 10 KB.
The GSM operator now offers 

  • Rs 26 pack that offer 25 MB for a day 
  • Rs 44 pack that offer 150 MB for 7 days
  • Rs 102 pack now offers 300 MB for a month

Vodafone is now charging Rs 251 for 1GB 3G data and followed by Rs 451for 2 GB. However, it is charging Rs 850 for 3 GB but offers 2 month validity for this pack (one month free). For 5 GB and 10 GB Vodafone is now charging Rs 1250 and Rs1501 respectively. The former offers you two months of validity while the later comes with the usual one month validity. All these rates are for prepaid users. For postpaid users the plans are costlier. 2 GB of 3G data plans are offered to its postpaid users for Rs 650; while prepaid users just pay Rs 451 for 2 GB data. The prices are same for However, higher data limit packs like 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB packs. Aircel and RCom are two operators who have made 3G affordable. Unlimited plans are offered by Aircel with Rs 8 that provide 50 MB at 3G speeds for a day while its costliest plan for Rs 997 offers 10 GB 3G data for 30 days. All the plans of Aircel are offered at 3.6 Mbps except 5 GB and 10 GB plan which are offered at 7.2 MBPS. However post data limit, the speed usually gets dropped to 20-64 Kbps.
