Microsoft launches social networking: Socl

Microsoft, Global software and operating system provider has declared its search based social networking site Socl. Last year this was in beta phase but it has been finally been revealed for the world. It is not in direct competition with Facebook or any other social networking websites. Socl search based social networking has the power to bring people together and promote collaboration and interactions. Through Socl users with similar interests can join or follow each other and share their interests. The search results on Socl have been made public which allow the users to view and comment. You can also use realtime video sharing for face to face conversations. Till now no mobile version of this new service has been hinted by Microsoft. Lets hope that it will be announced soon, at least for Windows Phone devices. It is free service which can be used with access to the internet. You can use your Facebook login or Microsoft ID to access this service.

SIM cards to help parents control kid's mobile usage

New service has been launched by Vodafone UK that provide parents better control over their kid's mobile phone. With the help of this service child can be prohibited from mis-using their handsets. Bemilo, a mobile phone company is providing this service through Vodafone's network. Things like messaging, internet usage, outgoing calls and even put a time limit on their kid's cellphone usage during certain hours of the day can be controlled through this service by parents. Parents need to purchase a service pack to avail this service that will have SIM card inside. The major problem with child especially teenager is that they spend much of their time in texting. This Bemilo SIM will put an end to that. It has many advantages like does not even know he/she is being monitored and secondly there is no way to bypass this system. Vodafone users can activate this service by just spending 2.95 pounds or Rs 250 approximately per month. Still this system is yet to be launched in India but the adoption of such system will definitely put the control on the rising number of crimes especially linked to cell phone misuse.
