Airtel might launch 4G service in Delhi and Mumbai

Airtel is in news with mobile phone chip supplier Qualcomm to buy its BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) arm. It has been reported that Qualcomm has asked for Rs 5,000 crore to sell its BWA stake which has spectrum in four key circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala.
Airtel has already launched its 4G services in Kolkata and Bangalore followed by BWA (4G) spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Maharashtra (except Mumbai) and Punjab. The company is also planning to roll out 4G services in Pune and Chandigarh with speed upto 100 Mbps. On the flip side Qualcomm has recently got the spectrum that it won in auctions held in 2010. At the time of auction Qualcomm stated that it will not operate the network themselves and would rope in an operator to offer services based on the spectrum it won. Few days back it has been reported that Airtel is in hurry to roll-out in Kolkata and Bangalore as well as in in Delhi and Mumbai.

Official LinkedIn app for Windows Phone

LinkedIn, professional and business-like social network has finally unveiled its first official app for Windows Phone platform. Earlier Microsoft talked about LinkedIn integration with Twitter natively on Windows Phone platform. Now a standalone application LinkedIn has been released for Windows Phone 7.5.  This application helps the Windows Phone users post updates and even track updates from the account contacts on LinkedIn. Metro UI is used by the application which brings basic functionality to the palm of the user. You can even look out for the potential contacts, send out invites to connect; manage groups and send messages. You just need to pin the app to the homescreen and make it as a Live Title. It is already available for iOS and Android, but for BlackBerry it is not yet launched on new 7.1 OS devices.

Google to launch Android Jellybean device by Dec

According to Wall Street Journal, Google is developing another version of Android, its open source mobile operating system. The new version being developed is 5.0 and known as Jellybean. The journal also mentioned that Jellybean compatible devices will be available by the year end.
Android 4.0 is the latest version of the world largest mobile operating system as of now. Only very few devices are equipped with this Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Google has not announced the official launch of Android 5.0 Jellybean. It will announce the launch in its annual I/O developer conference which is going to held in June this year. Since the company has not told more about its features, but it expected to bring Chrome browser integration, better enterprise security related features, and a voice assistance feature similar to SIRI of iOS. Google has followed the alphabetic order in naming and launching their Android OS which are named on deserts like Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich and now Jellybean followed by Key Lime Pie.

Nokia announces two dual SIM phones

Nokia, Finnish handset manufacturer has unveiled two new dual-SIM mobile phones in India. Both Nokia 110 and Nokia 112 offer faster mobile web browsing experience and improved connectivity to social networks. It features candy bar form factor and has used the new Nokia browser that promises faster mobile web browsing. Both the handsets brings down the data consumption cost by 90 per cent.

Device Specifications:

  • 1.8-inch LCD display
  • Multi-tap keypad
  • Easy Swap technology with which one can easily switch between the two SIMs
  • Symbian Series 40 operating system
  • Compression technology used to squeeze down the web page size

HTC Desire C officially announced

HTC has finally unveiled its budget friendly Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Smartphone, Desire C. This Smartphone features One-like styling and Beats Audio technology for good multimedia experience. It is available in colors which includes Polar White, Stealth Black and Flamenco Red in European countries. Till now the price of phone has not been revealed but is expected to be around Rs 15,000.
