How to reset the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to factory state

There are times when your iOS based devices become slow or might turn lethargic sometimes. The problem may arise due to several issues like multiple e-mail accounts, loads of applications and many other problems. So in order to get rid of these problems you can reset the device to the factory mode so as to start afresh.
If the screen or app is not responding, you can simply hold and press the home and Power/Sleep button simultaneously for 10 seconds. This will help device to reboot. This solution can be used for iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch and iPad.
Before you reset the device just make sure that you have a PC or Macbook with iTunes installed on it. Take a backup of your contacts and other applications by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and sync it normally.
Here's the quick guide to reset your iOS device to factory state.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and select the General option.
Step 2: Scroll down and then select the Reset option.
Step 3: From the available list of options, you can choose 'Erase All Content and Settings' to reset/format your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

HP to launch Windows 8 tablets

World’s leading computer manufacturer Hewlett Packard has decided to make tablets, starting with Windows 8 tablet.
The launch was announced by HP’s Chief Executive Meg Whitman at Global Influencer Summit at Shanghai. As per Todd Bradely, Executive Vice President for printing and personal systems, “The Windows 8 tablets will come with ‘cloud-based technology’ for content sharing across devices.”
The final launch date of Windows 8 device has not been announced yet, but the company is planning to launch it in the same year because of the fierce competition in the market as other brands like Nokia has also showed interest in Windows 8 platform for the tablets.

The ‘Best Quality Mobile Network Provider’ award goes to Airtel

India’s leading telecom service provider Airtel has been awarded the Best Quality Mobile Network Award at the National Telecom Awards held at New Delhi. Airtel has now become world’s fifth largest telecom provider as voted by its subscribers and has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.

Airtel has been recognized as a winner by Communication, Multimedia and Infrastructure Association of India (CMAI) in the categories of Star News Viewers Choice Best Mobile Network and Best Quality.

Mobile Network Service Provider at the 6th edition of National Telecom Awards 2012. The award has been granted to Airtel by CMAI on the basis of public votes gathered in a survey conducted by ZipDial and Star News.

As reported by Jagbir Singh, Airtel’s director for network services group, “At Airtel, it is our constant endeavor to create ubiquitous network to offer enriched experience to our customers. While it is great to be acknowledged for ones efforts, we also take this as a responsibility to sustain the performance and efforts towards taking a consumer experience to a newer level by enriching their lives.”

Samsung announces Lumia 610 challenger

One of the leading mobile phone manufacturers Samsung, announces the launch of Windows OS based Smartphone. The device will compete with Nokia Lumia 610 as it will be available for the same price tag, i.e. Rs. 11,000.

Nokia Lumia’s competitor Omnia M is far better in terms of specifications. While Nokia 610 has an 800 MHz processor coupled with 256 MB RAM and a 3.7 inch screen, Omia M is packed with 1 Ghz processor coupled with 384 MB RAM and a bigger 4 inch screen.

Since both the devices have 5 megapixels of camers, but what varies Omnia M is the additional front facing camera for video calling and bigger 1500 mAH battery as compared to Nokia Lumia 610 with 1300 mAH battery.

Nokia includes features like maps, exclusive apps, music service etc. On the other side Samsung Omnia comes with exclusive features like ChatOn messenger, Samsung AllShare with which users can play films, games and any other media file directly on TV or Music Hub. In addition to this Omnia M offers Windows Live SkyDrive with free online storage of 25 GB for anytime access, storage and sharing of videos & other office documents. 

The device manufacturer Samsung has not yet announced the launch date but as per it the phone will be available in the European market first and then in other markets.

Beginning of the end of the feature phone: TMI survey

As per Handset Hotlist Survey conducted in May, 2012, Smartphones are getting more popular among the Indian consumers. The survey was done by The Mobile Indian and they revealed that out of list of 25 handsets 21 are Smartphones.

It should be noted that on average basis 2 Smartphones are being launched in India and one of them is an entry or mid-level phone. These days Smartphones are available for as cheap as Rs. 3,000.

There are third party platforms or company owned platforms like Windows, Android, Symbian, Bada, iOS, BlackBerry and MeeGo available for these Smartphones. 

Also, Smartphones show higher application use than feature phones even at the entry level. Push email, calendar syncing and document editing are other essentials that are supported in this category of phone.On the other hand feature phones are in the midway point between basic and Smartphones. Their OS do not support third party applications. 

"So far Samsung has launched 25 handsets in the Galaxy series in India and of them, seven have made it to the Handset Hotlist - four entry level; two mid range; and one above Rs 30,000," as said by spokesperson.

"For the first time in the last 12 months, a BlackBerry handset has made it to the list. This reflects the changing perception among users about BlackBerry, which was perceived as a business Smartphone till a year back, rather than a phone for the masses,” as per spokesperson of The Mobile Indian.
