May 11
by Jashan 11. May 2012 18:03

Nano SIM will not be launched this year. There is delay in the launch of Nano SIM, which is expected to reduce the weight of Smartphone’s significantly.  They will not come into the market this year. German company (Giesecke & Devrient) invented the ultra small SIM cards which are currently being under consideration. They made the first commercial SIM about 20 years ago. They have brought out Nano SIM called the 4FF standard which is 30 per cent smaller than the current available micro SIMs.A standardization organization in telecommunication industry in Europe has started voting for new SIM standard which will be continued till mid may. Even after the voting work on the new nano SIM cards can only begin as late as 2013.
Apple is going to unveil the iPhone 5 this year but this new iPhone will not come with nano SIM. The first manufacturer that used micro SIM cards is Apple. And there are only few devices that accept micro SIM cards. The iPhone maker is now contesting with SIM card manufacturers and other device manufacturers for the nano SIM cards. Another company Nokia is also working on the idea of Nano SIM's. With that they are also working on devices that will be compatible with the new standard as well. If nano SIM’s come into limelight then customers can expect slimmer Smartphone’s.
