While travelling by train in India, you were not able to use internet services because of bad connectivity by your mobile operator to curb this problem Indian Railways have come up with Internet Services in the train. Now the Indian Railways is going to offer the Internet services to its passengers, directly into the coaches.
Thanks to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who has granted the permission to Indian Railways to make use of the KU band frequency that ISRO makes use of and link its satellite to provide Internet. Two years ago Indian Railway declared that this service will be available to its passengers on-board but the project was never implemented.
Now it will be under pilot testing on-board the Howrah Rajdhani Express. If the user wants to use the internet services in Train, he/ she just have to dial the number taken from TT. After that user will be provided with a password which when entered by them gives them access to the world of Internet in their train coach. During this Testing phase this service is free of cost for passengers and a Mumbai based company has been rope in to provide all the custom-made equipments and providing the service. The approximate cost of implementation of the project is Rs.6.30 crore. It is a great step taken by Indian Railways.
