HTC and Facebook team up for a 'Facebook Phone', Google and Samsung for next Nexus

HTC and Facebook team up for developing a separate Facebook Smartphone and Google is to stay with Samsung for the next Nexus Smartphone. Recently HTC has released couple of devices including HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha with dedicated Facebook buttons on them for quick access to the Social networking site.

It has been reported that HTC is developing Android Smartphone exclusive to Facebook enable and integrate all functions which are available on the social networking site. After the failure of its Nexus device Google ditched HTC. Google has partnered itself for Nexus One with Samsung who produced both the second and third generation of the Nexus devices. It has been reported that Google will stick with Samsung for the future Nexus devices. Anytime in Q3 2012 or later Facebook device will be out. Till now HTC and Facebook has time to bring out a killer Social Smartphone.

BlackBerry OS 7

BlackBerry OS 7 is the latest operating system released by Research In Motion. The new smartphone operating system brings HTML 5 and a new JavaScript engine to the browser, BlackBerry Balance support, enhanced universal search, and a new “Liquid Graphics” theme. Other features include NFC support and a 40% faster rendering browser. BlackBerry has launched two new phones with this OS, which are Blackberry Bold 9930 and 9900.

New MapmyIndia app provides house number search

A location-based services provider, MapmyIndia has declared the launch of India's first mobile application that offers house number search in 18 cities, street level navigation is possible for 579,000 towns and villages of India and navigation on iPhones. This application developed by Telenav has another navigation service provider provides voice-guided turn-by-turn GPS navigation, moving maps and access to millions of places for easy search and discovery. With help of this application you can search places and mark your favorites, and can search places like restaurants, ATMs, hotels, hospitals and more by category or name.

You can also save the frequent destinations as favorites. This application gives turn-by-turn voice guidance, speaking street names in an Indian accent. As the users shake the phone it instantly starts navigation to their home address from wherever they are. As the drivers exceed the posted speed limit on major highways the application notifies them. While driving at night it switches to night mode automatically allowing for safer viewing conditions. This application is priced for $3.99 (Rs 200 approximately) for 1 month and $29.99 for one year. MapmyIndia Navigator is available at iTunes App store.

Google starts selling mobile phones through Google Play

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available at Google Play store (earlier called Android Market) in the USA. In the Google Play web store special section has been created known as “Devices” from which it will be selling the unlocked version of Nexus phones initially. More than two years ago Google started making Nexus phone called Nexus One which was made by HTC. The later 2 versions Nexus S and Nexus Prime has been made by Samsung. Galaxy Nexus by Samsung costs $399 (Rs 21,000 approximately) and comes unlocked, without a carrier commitment or contract. It works with GSM network, including T-Mobile and AT&T. New customer support services have been implemented by Google Play to improve the purchasing experience of buyers. It has been reported that this service will be soon available in more countries. Even the Google is expected to launch a low cost tablet which will also be sold through Google Play store.

Microsoft discontinues support for Windows Mobile

Users of Windows Mobile operating system based devices will no longer be able to get access to applications from the Microsoft application store.
Software giant, Microsoft announced that going forward mobile devices with Microsoft Windows operating system will face new constraints as far as access to applications is concerned. As per Microsoft the changes have made to benefit the users. Now this changed policy will bring new challenges for the users with older version of Windows OS as going forth they will not be able access applications from the Microsoft application store. So the only solution lest for them is to update the version of their operating system. It is crucial that users upgrade their mobile operating systems in order to improve the security aspect of the marketplace, as reported by Microsoft.

Microsoft had come out with Windows Phone 7 in 2010 for its Smartphone’s to replace its older Windows Mobile operating system. The company has also revealed that it will be launching its new Windows 8 OS and will be used for PC’s tablets and Smartphone’s.
