LG Electronics has unveiled its newest advanced wireless charger, WCD-800, at the Mobile World Congress. The WCD-800 is designed in the shape of a cradle to allow to the phone to be positioned vertically to make video calls and send text messages or horizontally to view TV programs and HD movies while charging.
LG’s newest charger allows you to charge your handset wirelessly without the need of any wires. With the WCD-800, charging is accomplished by simply placing the phone on the deck of the 75.8mm wide cradle. The charging area is double the size of LG’s previous wireless charger, the WCP-700. Using electromagnetic induction, the WCD-800 relies on electric currents produced by the magnetic fields of the electric coils located under the charger. Despite its unrivaled convenience, the WCD-800 exhibits efficiency and effectiveness equivalent to that of conventional wired chargers. LG’s wireless charger is compatible with all devices compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi standard, the global standard for wireless power. The WCD-800 will be introduced first in Korea followed by North America in the first half of the year.

Stephen Sneeden, product marketing manager for Sony Mobile, however told CNET Asia that his statement are assumptions and that the company would make the official announcements when the products are ready. Sony Mobile (previously Sony Ericsson) has been bit of late comer to the dual-core mobile processor based smartphones. At the MWC 2012, Sony Mobile introduced its first dual-core smartphone - Xperia S. While other Android OS based smartphone makers are quickly adopting the quad-core mobile processors from Nvidia and Qualcomm.Instead of going ahead with the first generation of quad-core processors, Sony Mobile has decided to wait for the ARM Cortex-A15 architecture based mobile processors. Current generation quad-core processors are based on the Cortex-A9 architecture. Compared to the Cortex-A9, the upcoming Cortex-A15 will be 40 per cent faster and would offer more compute performance.

Touch less 3D stylus showcased during MWC

March 02
by kashyap 2. March 2012 02:44

Texas instruments, a popular microprocessor and technology provider for mobile devices, has showcased a new 3D stylus technology for tablets. Using this technology tablet owners will be able to control their tablets without having the need to run the stylus or touch the stylus on the screen of the device.
Till now all the devices that involve usage of a stylus rely on the touch and a physical connection between the device's screen and the stylus is required to get the desired action completed or to control the device like Samsung galaxy tab.The 3D stylus makes use of ultrasonic sound waves with which the stylus communicated with the device giving its actual location for accurate action on the device. Other than just drawing and pin pointing thing on the device, the 3D stylus will also be able to manipulate the depth of the object and the touch as well, which makes the 3D manipulation possible. This technology will make touch less operation on the devices a possibility. The possibilities of its usage are endless and it surely can be developed in to something similar to the touch interface that was showcased in the popular science fiction movies. The stylus along with the 3D touch or control also works flawlessly in the standard 2D mode where users can simply scribe with it on the device to draw, write or do several tasks. Although the device is still just a technological sample that was showcased by Texas instruments during the Mobile World Congress but Android central reports that the company is ready with the technology and the actual implementation would only require about three months of time once this technology is adopted by any device manufacturer. The utility this device provides is certainly great but actual working will only be known once this goes mainstream.
