Invites for next-gen iPad being sent by Apple for 7th March

The rumours have been on for quite some time now, and it seems that Apple is finally going to list the curtain for us. News is coming that Apple has confirmed a press event which will be held on the 7th of March and you no prizes for guessing, but it will be the unveiling of a new iPad.

The invite says “We have something you really have to see. And touch.” Now this is promising as it suggests a brand new retina-display with an awesome display. From what we heard last, this new iPad might have a new 2048x1536 resolution display and an Apple A5X/A6 processor. But you never know, with all the quad-core wizardry going on, Apple might pull off something in the same category. Also there might be LTE-radio onboard just for that awesome data-speed it offers.

Motorola unveils Defy Mini and Motoluxe

United States based mobile communication equipment manufacturer Motorola has announced the launch of two new Android smartphones, the Defy mini and Motoluxe, for the international markets. Both these smartphones will be made available in the Spanish market first following which the handsets will make their way to the other countries. Both the devices are based on the Google Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system which looks slightly outdated especially as most device manufacturers have already migrated or are migrating to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Motoluxe features a slim profile and a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display for easy usage. The device features an 8 megapixel camera at the back that will definitely keep the shutterbugs happy. The phone is great for those who seek style and utility both. The Motorola Defy Mini on the other hand is for those who lead a very active life. The 3.2 inch touchscreen is protected by a Croning Gorilla glass that makes it scratch resistant. Along with that the devise is also dust and water resistant so that the users have no problems being active enough.

As we mentioned earlier as well, the devices will be launched for the Spanish markets first and following that the international availability of the devices will be made. More information on the same will be announced by Motorola in the month of April as it is when the devices will start selling in the market.

The New Mercedes A-class is Siri-controlled!

The New Mercedes A-class is Siri-controlled!

Mercedes Benz has just unveiled its plans for the new A-class. The good news is that every A-class that Mercedes churns out will be fully integrated with not only an iPhone but Apple’s voice assistant Siri too. How this works is pretty simple. You need to firstly download the drive kit plus app onto your iPhone.  Switch on the app and Voila! The in-car screen turns out to be your own smart device with easy access to Facebook and Twitter. But that’s not all. You can navigate through a controller specially built for this purpose and embedded in your hand rest. Using voice commands, you would be even able to control the Garmin Nuvi GPS that comes with the A-class.

If you have an A-class and an iPhone 4S, no doubt this is pretty much the best news for you. Also, one thing that doesn’t slip past our notice is Mercedes is the first company to get permission from Apple to access Siri.

Intel announce two new Atom CPUs for phones and tablets

Intel announce two new Atom CPUs for phones and tablets

Intel is serious about getting a piece of the handheld action this time - they announced two new processors and chipsets to join what's already powering the likes of the Lenovo K800 and the Orange Santa Clara.

The first processor is called Atom Z2580 and features two cores (the same Medfield design like the fist one) with Hyper Threading allowing the processor to run four threads simultaneously. It will be clocked at 1.3GHz, potentially going up to 1.8GHz with Turbo Boosts. It's paired with a powerful GPU too - PowerVR SGX544MP2, which is supposed to double the performance of an SGX543MP2 found in the iPhone 4S. Intel have their own LTE-capable modem that will work with the Atom Z2580 and all these components will be shown off in a brand new reference design. With a little luck, it will go the way of the Santa Clara and be offered as a consumer phone too. However, that's unlikely to happen before the first half of 2013 at the earliest.

The second chipset includes the Atom Z2000, a low-end single-core processor running at 1GHz and without Hyper Threading. There's a downclocked SGX540 GPU and an Intel-made HSPA+ modem. The Atom Z2000 will get its own reference design and will target low-end phones. There's no word on availability, but probably won't be soon either.
